Wings A Black City Novel Book 3 eBook Elizabeth Richards

I really actually loved Black City. It was a 5/5 for me. A lot like Romeo and Juliet.
I didn't really care for Phoenix. it was ok, but what started out really well, became very slow/boring in the middle.

As for Wings, it was a little bit better than Phoenix, but not by much.

I did think the Edmund point was done well, but what I don't get is the fact that this series revolves around Nat and Ash and they throw his viewpoint in there. i didn't like that. I also felt like the last 25 percent of the book was rushed. Characters started saying things that were weird and out of character, Rose's ending was really anti-climatic. The whole Evangeline thing was stupid with Rose. What else can I say? Stuff happens out of nowhere. The twists that I kept reading about in reviews such as twists/turns were all cliche'. I knew Edmund was Purian Rose from the beginning. I felt like something would happen to Nat at the end.

Overall, this is an author who can't follow through with her original idea. It went from great to kind of boring/bad. I'm not trying to be rude to the author,, but I just feel like her original idea of the story, wasn't her final product. It really is a shame because I wish this would have been one of the great series. Instead, the first book is unfortunately the only good one. Avoid the second and third book like the plague.

Wings A Black City Novel Book 3 eBook Elizabeth Richards Reviews

This was definitely my favorite of the series. Wings pretty much delivered everything I want in a series conclusion. I was pulled into the story and it wouldn’t let me go. This series has such an addictive quality to it. The kind of quality that even when you are aggravated with certain events, you just cannot look away. Before I go any further, I just want to say that this review may contain slight spoilers for Black City and Phoenix. It will be spoiler free for Wings.

Natalie and I didn’t really get along well in Phoenix. I truly truly struggled with her. However, I loved her in Wings. Gone is the girl who holds secrets and listens blindly. Natalie does what she feels is right and doesn’t think twice about risking herself for something she thinks is right. She has become a very strong character and the kind of kickass character I love. She stands up for what she believes in, even when standing up to certain people is difficult.

Ash remains my favorite character of the series. I just love everything about him. He absolutely adores Natalie and I love that. He is also incredibly strong and fights for what he believes in. My favorite chapters were always the ones told in his point of view. I have loved watching him grow over the course of the series. It was great watching him come to terms with who he is and what he wants out of life. He also makes some very important decisions as to what and who is really important to him. One decision towards the end left me with tears in my eyes.

Wings introduces a third point of view and that point of view was brilliant. I’m not going to say who it is, because that is part of the mystery, but just know it’s awesome. It was such a cool addition and one that left me reeling. Those chapters were very revealing and I never ever would have guessed what those chapters had to show.

Wings was full of twists and turns and honestly nothing happened like I thought it would. That made it even better. The book surprised me at every turn and I never knew what to expect. Every single revelation left my head spinning. I expected something crazy from the final installment but this was even crazier than I expected. My only complaint is that there are some things that could have been tied up neater at the conclusion. All of the main story lines come to an end and have a full conclusion. However there were a few things I would have liked to have a bow on top of the wrapping. I realize though that this is me being greedy. Really I can’t ask for more from this conclusion.

Wings was a great way to wrap up the series and I am sure fans of the series will not be disappointed. The story is great and every time you think it’s safe, it’s just not. There is so much drama and mystery and it keeps you hooked. This series is a great combination of dystopian and paranormal and is not to be missed for fans of either of those genres.
This has been a series that I have loved and sought out, so of course I was nervous going into it but had every faith that Richards would do an amazing job. Honestly, going in, I only remembered the basics and that Ash was an amazing character and I loved their romance.

It started right in with the story. The alternating POV between Natalie and Ash is back. It is so hard that they are separated because I know they are lonely and worried about the other. Its the last book so its not a spoiler to say that I was soooo relieved when they were finally reunited even under the rising chaos and such of trying to take down Puritan Rose and his cronies.

There are quite a few twists in this one, and one of those surprises is that there is another point of view. With my fibro and memory issues, I didn't remember if we'd met him before or the significance of getting into his head, but I did like his voice and the tension of the time and rules he's living under. He's had a hard life, but it is good that he has that bond with one person in his family--even if his methods of showing love are sometimes harsh or shocking.

This isn't my favorite of the series though. It was good and mostly kept my attention but I did find a few times where I was skimming and looking for action, romance, or the next POV. This was mainly in about 2/5-3/5 of the way through, once past the halfway I was flipping pages like nobody's business wondering how everything fit together.

And once it started clicking, the set-up really set the pace on fire. Information was revealed that had me pretty shocked. Also, the romance was amazing and it kept making me sigh. I love Ash to death and how he is with Natalie, and the strength and resolve he has to keep going and fighting for a better world for all the races together. He sees a lot of loss and grief, pain and suffering in the fight to get there.

Each character played their part so well, and I really appreciated the ending. It gave me closure and it was a brave way to go out. Nothing was 100% put back together, but the people who needed to die or pay for their actions got what was coming one way or another, and Natalie and Ash have the hope and bright future ahead of them to make things work in a whole new way. They feel the loss of some who fought beside them, and they relish the ones who made it and others who joined them along the way.

Bottom Line Good ending to a series I loved, hard saying goodbye to Ash and this swoony romance.
